All peaks, no valleys.

Yes, we were ridiculously and probably over-excited about getting the license. And for someone who used to always say "Oh, well, it is just a piece of paper" I realized how fun a piece of paper it is! It has fun designs and places for signatures and a nice envelope and everything! It is all official and grown-up looking, like an olde-tyme deed! And what's more, it says we are legal to be married. That, of course, is the best part.

I took the afternoon off work on Friday, since we were not sure how long we would have to wait. Ended up we were the only people there for a marriage license, and it took us even less time than usual because we had already filed our request online. A diminutive hispanic girl took our IDs and pulled up our information while we giggled and took photos in the waiting area. She called us into her office where we had to swear we weren't brother and sister and that we have not been recently divorced. Of course through all of this we are smiling and suppressing laughs and she caught our merriment as well. Finally I said to her, "This must be a pretty decent job as far as city jobs go!"

"Well, yes," she laughed, "most of the time; though I do see my share of couples fighting in front of me! But yes, better than most, I think."

Off we went with our license and took photos with it, and had a couple beers to celebrate. Then we went to Chuy's for happy hour and free nachos, while we outlined the toasts we shall be making and who is going to say what during said toasts. We had not read the ceremony for a while so we reviewed it too, to see if we wanted to make any changes. I read the vows out loud and we both got teary and decided everything was perfect for us exactly how it stands.

After all this we met up with Zeebah, who I have known online now for almost four years or something. While it was the first time we have met in person, it didn't really feel like it. Man, I love the internets and all the nice people I have come to know through it. We had some drinks at Lee Harvey's, then Double Wide, and then, exhausted from a day of highs, we headed home at a relatively decent hour.

I'm very jealous you've got your marriage license already! We have to wait until the Tuesday before our wedding to get ours (I won't be there until then), which is cutting it pretty fine with the 72 hour waiting period, so I've been a little anxious about it. I'm relieved to hear it's likely to be a straightforward process, though!
